What's Next For Accounting? - Issue #80

Before we get started - if you've ever been interested in joining a mastermind group of fellow firm-runners, I'm currently matchmaking new groups in my community. Signups close Saturday, and we only do this twice a year. It's a 6 month program, more background on how our masterminds work here.
Canopy Launches AI-Generated Email π
My most-requested AI feature, generative email went live in Canopy for select beta users this week! Check out the press release. I did a deep dive on how this impacts the market for practice management systems. Currently it'll do the following:
Generate an email from a prompt
Rephrase selected text
Make the selected text more friendly
Make the selected text more formal
Or correct spelling & grammar errors in the selected text

BUT JASON WHAT IF I DON'T USE CANOPY. Here's how to build this into any other app you use π€«π
We're using a free app called Ply, that lets you add features to the apps you already use. It also gives you a quick switcher bar in Chrome that you can pop up with ctrl+shift+k.
Using Ply I added two buttons to Gmail: the first gives you a pop-up to generate an email, the second lets your rephrase text:

To build on this example even further, you could:
Use your own tone
Specify the desired length
Pull in the context of the email thread
The process to build these in Ply is pretty simple. Very similar to Zapier, where you chain together a sequence of actions. To build this one you'll need to create an OpenAI account if you don't have one already.

Let me know if you give this a try, and bravo to Canopy for being first to move on this ππ
